Abstract

Das moderne Leben ist geprägt durch Kommunikation, die vernetzte Gesellschaft ist nicht nur sprichwörtlich sondern auch real geworden. Um die Erreichbarkeit und Verfügbarkeit der vernetzten Infrastrukturen sicherzustellen und vor unerlaubtem Zugriff oder Manipulationen zu schützen müssen Angriffe und Intrusions erkannt werden. Einzelne Intrusion Detection Systeme sind nicht in der Lage die hohen und weiter steigenden Datenmengen moderner Netzwerke auf Angriffe und Intrusions deren Komplexität und Häufigkeit immer weiter steigen zu überprüfen. Daher habe ich ein verteiltes Intrusion Detection System entwickelt, das eine prioritätsgesteuerte, situationsbezogene Auswahl und Verteilung der Datenmengen auf eine beliebige Anzahl Auswertungssysteme ermöglicht. Unterauslastungen oder Überlastsituationen der Auswertungssysteme werden durch dynamische Rekonfiguration der Datenverteilung minimiert. Tests und Analysen haben gezeigt, dass das System in der Lage ist permanent einen Großteil der Hosts zu überwachen selbst wenn die verfügbaren Auswertungskapazitäten weit unter der Übertragungskapazität des zu beobachtenden Netzwerks liegen. Das von mir entickelte Prioritätsmodell und die darauf basierenden Verteilungsalgorithmen bieten eine exzellente Basis für weitere Forschungsarbeiten und Applikationen im Umfeld verteilter Intrusion Detection Systeme.
